The Clients for this late 20th Century home asked for a new master suite addition that would complement the existing one-story building’s form. We were also tasked with making the exterior architectural expression more in line with its southern coastal setting. We located the addition so that it welcomes visitors as they approach the house down the driveway. This location also helps frame the backyard terrace. A copper standing seam roof, along with lap and board and batten siding, emulate the southern coastal vernacular. The addition has an abundance of windows filtering natural light throughout the day and offering views to the surrounding natural landscape.
